Chocolate Pretzel Bird Nests

Every Easter after church, we go to my Aunt Lynn's for a family lunch and egg hunt for all the little ones. I hardly ever am needed to bring any food, so this year, even though I wasn't asked, I thought I would bring a cute, festive dessert! Cue Chocolate Pretzel Bird Nests!

These are very simple, not too time consuming, and super cute and delicious when done.
What you will need are:

Chocolate Chips (I used EnjoyLife Mini Chocolate chips)
Pretzel Sticks
Smooth Peanut/Almond Butter
'Egg' of choice
(I chose SweetTarts Jellybeans but you can use mini Cadberry Eggs or whatever you'd like!)

Now, depending on how many nests you want to make, will depend on how much you will need of the ingredients. I made 12 nests and used about 6oz of the mini chocolate chips, and Im not sure of the exact measurement of broken pretzel sticks, but as you'll read later, you'll need enough till theres not any left over chocolate in the bottom of the bowl. I also used about 2 TBS of almond butter.

First, go ahead and cover a cookie sheet with wax/parchment paper.

Next, you'll need to melt your chocolate chips. I poured about ox in a bowl and melted in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between. Be careful, because you don't want burnt chocolate!
Once the chocolate is melted, add in the peanut/almond butter and stir it around.
Then go ahead and start adding broken up pretzel sticks, gently mixing it in to the chocolate, and keep adding pretzels until you don't have any left over chocolate sitting in the bottom of the bowl.

You can stop here and eat it just like this if you want. I almost did.
But if you're choosing to continue, take spoonfuls of the mixture and plop in on to your lined cookie sheet. You can shape them you look more 'nest' like, to dip more in the middle to hold your 'eggs', have fun and get messy with it. Once all of your nests are on the cookie sheet, place your 'eggs' on top, and let cool in the refrigerator for an hour + so everything can set. Mine stayed in the fridge over night till I needed them the next day.

Cute right?! Enjoy!!

Blessings, Charity
